About the Hashemite Fund of Al-Aqsa Mosque
The Hashemite Fund for the Restoration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock supports, supervises and defends the conservation of the historic identity and structural integrity of Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif. The Fund operates on the ground, as well as through governmental, legal and international forums and institutions. Its responsibilities are an integral part of the main goals and duties of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s Custodianship of the Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
The Hashemite Fund for the Restoration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock was established by the Government of Jordan on 16th April 2007, in accordance with Article 31 of the Jordanian Constitution. The Fund holds legal administrative and financial independence which allows it to receive grants, donations and register Waqf properties.
The board of the Fund consists of 15 members, including its chair. The board is established upon a Royal Decree accreditation which is renewed every four years. The Fund may form an advisory body of Islamic and Arab figures. The Executive Director is the financier of the Fund, according to the annual budget approved by the board.
The budget of the Fund is raised through the following sources:
1 Financial support provided by the government.
2 Charities, grants, bequests and legacies.
3 Returns of the Fund’s waqf endowments.
4 Returns of the Fund’s investments.
5 Values of the Fund’s charitable instruments and bonds.
Any funds, donations, processes, returns or prosecutions of the Fund are exempt from official tax fees.
